JERSEY CITY, N.J., and Lexington, Mass., July 21, 2010 — ISO and Atmospheric and Environmental Research (AER) announce that ISO ClaimSearch® now offers a series of instant online Weather Forensic Reports to help insurers evaluate claims related to severe weather conditions. The reports feature key weather data and mapping of hail, lightning strikes, damaging winds, and tornado activity for a specific time period and geographic area. The new reports are available through the Decision Net® claims information portal.
The new Decision Net products leverage the world-renowned knowledge, experience, and resources of AER. AER is a premier authority in the field of weather, climate, and environmental science and data analytics, serving the planning and operational needs of industries and governments around the globe. Both AER and ISO are subsidiaries of Verisk Analytics.

"Through our new reports, which use hail, lightning, wind, and tornado data mapped by AER, claims and investigations personnel can access targeted, insightful information on severe weather events by locations and dates," said John Deegan, product development manager, ISO ClaimSearch. "The reports offer support for claims evaluation and will provide particular value to special investigations."

"The Weather Forensic Reports enable claim adjusters to improve customer satisfaction by quickly analyzing weather-related claims and decreasing response time to policyholders," said Steve Massa, director of data services, Atmospheric and Environmental Research. "Insurers can improve financial performance through reduced costs, since the reports make it easy to process legitimate claims while rapidly spotting and minimizing potentially fraudulent claims."

The following Weather Forensic Reports are available through Decision Net for a nominal fee: hail verification, lightning strike, wind assessment, and tornado assessment. The reports on Decision Net feature free updates for viewing for up to 30 days. Each time a report is accessed on the ISO ClaimSearch website, a fresh report reflecting any new and updated on-site observations and severe weather findings is provided.
